Do you love the nostalgia of movies outside on a warm summer night at the drive-in? We sure do, and sharing that fun time with our kids is such a blast.
Guess what, Skyview Drive-In is set to officially open for the season this weekend on Friday April 6th for their 70th year of continuous outdoor movies! If that doesn’t attest to how much fun it is to attend these, read more! Unfortunately I wouldn’t be surprised if the weather doesn’t work in their favor this weekend. But at least we know that once the weather is just right, it’s time to go!
Skyview in the quaint town of Lancaster is the first drive-in in Ohio with digital quality picture and sound. Showing HD 1080 picture movies on an 80′ screen! Be sure to check out the history link on their page to view a short video about drive-ins and Skyview, they are one of about only 365 left in the United States.
If you love the vintage feel of going to the drive-in for a few movies, this family owned adorable location is perfect. With plenty of parking spots and a huge front lawn for the kids to play on, Skyview is a hot location for the children and I all summer long.
You can view their website or facebook page to see what upcoming movies will be shown. There are always two movies a night, and sometimes a special showing of a third movie for those late night movie lovers. Plenty of children movies and on certain weekends they also have a DJ there at the beginning of the evening. They also have a twitter account you can follow for updates.
This first weekend (April 6th, 7th, 8th) they will be showing the new Peter Rabbit: Born To Be Wild and the hilarious new Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle
The following weekend (April 13th) so far they have Rampage on the schedule.
My children love to hit this fun place up after a full day of pool-time to lay back and watch a few flicks. Once school is out for the summer they will be open each night of the week for movies, but until then they will be open each weekend Friday Saturday and Sunday nights. They always count on having dinner here as well as they have a FULL concession stand with almost anything you could imagine to choose from. From full pizzas and fried pickles to cotton candy and glow-pops and everything in between, your tummy will be happy.
If you are lucky enough to get up front parking you have access to lay blankets out on the front lawn in front of the big screen for the ultimate relaxation, yet still being close to your vehicle.
Definitely plan to arrive early as this location is such a hot commodity that there is usually always a line of cars waiting to enter at the 7pm opening.
Come with your sweetheart and enjoy the movie in the privacy of your vehicle or bring the whole family for an inexpensive fun-filled evening. Even your dog or cat is allowed! Here are some photos of my family having a blast, maybe we will see you there this coming season!
