Here comes Peter Cottontail…
Easter is such a fun time with family. The weather is finally warming up, sun is (usually) shining and the flowers are beginning to bloom. We always look forward to a fun-filled afternoon celebrating with our family.
I work full time in the local emergency room and have set schedules of 3 twelve hour shifts each week, one of the days always being Sundays. So sadly, I don’t always get to enjoy a day off with my family if I cannot find coverage. But I try my best and have been lucky the past few years getting it off. Just in case I can’t though, we always find ways to enjoy some Easter festivities together around the holiday. Coloring eggs, searching for eggs and getting the kids’ picture with the good old bunny and some other fun events.
I have listed several below that our some of our favorites! I hope that you can try some of these out this year (or save this article for next year’s ideas) and let me know what you thought!
The annual Easter Egg Hunt on the massive lawn of the Bryn Du Mansion in Granville, Oh is a large event and fun to attend. You get a lot of room to run and hunt. It is perfect for a quick little trip to get the job done!
This is a fan favorite for my household. My son goes to the private school attached to Spring Hills Baptist Church and every year they put on this amazing and free event. With food, plenty of games, a petting zoo, face painting and a fun egg hunt for each age group, Spring Hills always has a great turnout and its the perfect family event. They even do a quick Easter Story for the kids, which we enjoy.
This one is by far a favorite of ours. You get to take a scenic train ride almost an hour long to a location where the Easter Bunny will be, having hidden his eggs in sectioned off areas for each age group for a fun little hunt. You can also get pictures with the Bunny there and then ride the train back to the beautiful antique station. All in all it will take roughly 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours and you have two time slots to choose from, 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. These rides always sell out far in advance but at the moment there are still some spots left. Get yours now!
This two day event hosts numerous activities and treat stations throughout the zoo as well as character meet and greats. The animals are given egg themed treats to play with and you can even find the Easter Bunny scuba diving in the aquarium! If you are lucky enough, a week prior on the 24th, there is an Easter Bunny brunch you can attend, with ticket purchase (it is sold out for this year). Your kids get to enjoy up-close animal encounters, face painting and a meet and greet with the bunny himself, with a photo moment to take home, all while enjoying a delicious brunch filled with lots of goodies.
This event we have not attended but sounds like an awesome one! Thanks to Cbus Momma for the great idea! Last year the event was rained out, but she said she was able to still stop by to pick up a bag of candy. The egg hunt is glow in the dark and prizes are given to children who are toddlers through 6th grade. There will also be inflatables, hot chocolate, and a petting zoo. Click on the link to register and they ask that canned food is brought for their food pantry. If you have gone to this event please let us know how it was!
For photos with The Bunny we love to head over to Easton anytime between March 16th and the 31st. Pictures are only $5 or you are welcome to take free photos with your own camera or cell phone!
Let us know what we need to add to our list or what you thought of these fun events. We hope you have a very blessed and wonderful Easter holiday with your family. And lets pray for sunshine and no snow!
